The Guy Behind the Blog // 03 It's that time again! Caleb loves “addressing the blog-o-sphere!” As a part of Betsy Gettis’s linkup, it’s time to get to know some more about the man behind this blog! :)

Do you have a good luck charm or ritual? (like a lucky coin, or you always used to listen to a certain pump-up song when you played sports in high school or college?)

Well, sort of. When my dad and I work together we always listen to our bluegrass music. So when I’m working alone I turn it up nice and loud and it’s like he’s right there with me.

What is your favorite dish that your girlfriend makes for you?  Do you have any fun memories of a time when she tried to cook and it totally flopped or does she get it right every time?

My parents are here to visit, so the other day Brittany and my mom made these spinach fritters. They are my new favorite!

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

I wanted to be an inventor. Ever since I can remember I’ve been building things. I loved any sort of machinery! Even when I was only three or four I was obsessed with the trains that would go by our house. I would run around screaming ‘TRAIN!’ when I heard them coming. Then, I’d count every last car. When I was a couple years older I started building remote controlled airplanes and small rockets. I loved experimenting with my own designs. As I got older I got into building robots and other more complex things, like welding and fabrication skills. Later, I got a job at a machine shop and loved every minute of it.  I read everything I can about how things work and how they are made.  Wow, this is turning into a book!

Which of the five senses is your strongest?

Well, it’s definitely not my ears. Brittany always gets perturbed when I don’t hear her. She’s cute when she’s mad.

Would you ever run for president?

You know all those aptitude tests they make you take in highschool and college? I always got ‘leader’ or ‘manager’. I’m nothing like that though! I don’t like being in the lead! I guess they figure if you’re not going to be a follower than you have to be a leader. What if you just want to do what you want? Why don’t those tests have a Loneranger option? So no, I wouldn’t want to be president. I would be a king though! King is totally different.

If you were a king what would your palace look like?

I am so glad you asked! It would have a moat full of alligators. On the tops of the walls would live a family of honey badgers! So even if you could climb the walls you’d be finished because honey badger don’t care! Oh, and definitely a helipad. Got to have a helipad.

He's a king to me :) Come link up with Betsy Gettis and let others know more about the man behind your blog!

The Guy Behind the Blog // 02

Couple | The Guy Behind the Blog linkup! Happy pre-Friday everyone! :) Today you get to learn a little more about the special man in my life who supports me in everything I do. I really enjoy this linkup because it gives the man behind your blog recognition and, in Caleb's words, allows them to "address the blog-o-sphere!" As a part of Betsy Gettis’s linkup, it’s time to get to know some more about the man behind this blog! :)

If you could write a book, what topic would you write about and why?

Something that I’m always trying to do is build more discipline. So maybe when I’m old and have lots of discipline I could write a book about it!

What is one thing on your bucket list, or one thing that you’d like to do or accomplish in your lifetime?

I want to raise children that are honoring to God.

If you could look out your window and only see one view for the rest of your life, what would you want to see?

Hmmm… I don’t know. I like penguins!

Me tooooo!!! :)

Imagine you’re opening a shop.  What are you selling?

Well that’s easy I already did and I’m selling precision machining service.

If you could have 50lbs of anything other than money, what would it be?

Does it have to be exactly 50lbs? I would like 80 pounds of American Staffordshire Terrier! I’m going to name him Colonel Jefferson III (pronounced ‘the third’)!!! He’ll be my buddy and keep me company while I’m working.

Time to brag on your girl…tell us one thing that makes you proud of your girlfriend/fiance/wife!

I am most proud of this blog. She has poured her heart into every post! I’m always telling people about it!

He's the absolute best :) Come link up with Betsy Gettis and let others know more about the man behind your blog!

The Guy Behind the Blog // 01

guys-behind-the-blog I saw this linkup floating around the blog-o-sphere yesterday and thought it was a great idea! Not many people realize that behind the girl blogger is a supportive man who listens/helps/encourages/inspires her on a daily basis. Whether he's your photographer, your editor, your business partner, or your listener, he'll always be there for you. As a part of Betsy Gettis's linkup, it's time to get to know the man behind this blog! :)

Introduce yourself!

Hi I'm Caleb. I'm Brittany's boyfriend. Uh. What about me? I really love building things, I love physics, I love machining and I've been working really hard these past few months to get my machines ready for my business.

I'm super proud of him :)

What do you think about my blog and what do I blog about?

I'm super excited about the blog! I get get all tingly and giddy every time I get one of the blog emails. I'm incredibly proud of the hard work Brittany has put into this blog.

It's a lifestyle blog. Not sure that that means. I think it just means anything, but it's pretty good, having that freedom.

High School Sweethearts

What is your favorite post that I've written?

Man, that's a good question. *pause as he looks up what his favorite post is* I like them all a lot. I like the goals one a lot. I also like the Currently ones...those are cool.

Have you ever had a blog or have you ever considered starting one?

Yes. Every day. I do want to have a blog, except it's going to be about Caleb type of things like, machines I'm building, and tools, and money, and things like that.

If you could be a member of any band, which one would it be?

Oh man. *extra long pause* I'm going to have to go with...wait. I have three! I'd like to be in either Ricky Skaggs and the Kentucky Thunder, or Alison Krauss and Union Station, or the Zac Brown Band. I'd play the guitar in all of these!

Valentine’s Day is on the horizon…are you the date-planner type or do you fly by the seat of your pants?

I really enjoy planning dates. I like dates where I can eat. Cause I like eating.

Tell us about a date-night-gone-wrong for you and your girlfriend/fiancé/wife.

I don't let things go wrong.

C'mon, tell a story, babe!

Ok, well once upon a time, back when I was a wee lad, I didn't have anything all that great for Valentine's day, so I figured that if I didn't have anything good I'd better do something big. So I went and I shoveled a huge heart in the football field. Except, when I texted my boss if I could get off work early to shovel it, I accidentally texted Brittany instead. And then I only realized it after I spent an hour shoveling in sub-zero weather. But since it was already made, I showed it to her, and we looked at it from a distance with our faces frozen in the super cold wind.

And let’s cover all the topics…sports…who are you rooting for in the Superbowl and why?

My friend's nephew is a punter for the Ravens (Sam Koch).

Turns out, Caleb really likes these interviews! Tune in next month for more about the guy behind the blog! :)

Perfect gift ideas for him! The man in your life will surely love these gifts! | The Kardia Blog Men are hard to shop for sometimes. But if you just take the time to think and look, there are actually so many great gift ideas for him. I'm tired of seeing all those boring gift guides for men with overpriced, random things they don't need or want. So today I took the time to carefully choose some useful, practical gifts that the men in your life are sure to enjoy! Take a look...

1. Subscription to the Dollar Shave Club | $3 - $9 per month depending on blade preference

Ladies. Trust me on this one! What guy wants to overpay to get a decent razor? Sign them up for the Dollar Shave Club. They deliver great blades right to your doorstep every month for just a few bucks. No more schlepping to the drugstore and no more overpriced, ridiculous shave tech that you don't need. The $6 razor is perfect and comes with free shipping! That's less than you pay for Netflix! Women can use them too :) Plus, their video ad is hilarious (that's what all my guy friends say!)

2. Charcoal Soap | $6

The true value of activated charcoal is its ability to remove toxins and impurities from your body. This is why an activated charcoal bar soap is great at helping solve troubled skin problems. RightSoap makes this soap with natural ingredients and the finest oils and butters. This is the perfect stocking stuffer for your man!

3. Gingham Tie | $59.50 (if you hurry, you can get 30% using the code GETFESTIVE !)

A gingham tie is so classic and instantly brings an outfit up a notch. Get your man a nice tie to wear on some fancy dates with you. Or just dress up in your house. I mean, he'll want to wear this tie even when he doesn't have to.

4. Touchscreen Gloves | $45

I live in Minnesota, so winter to us means snow, ice, and cold. Men need a good, warm, durable pair of gloves for when they're out snowblowing, shoveling, and even just holding the steering wheel! This pair is perfect, with a silicone grip and touchscreen capability.

 5. The Art of Manliness | $14.16

Authors Brett and Kate McKay wrote this book as a guide full of advice on how to be better husbands, fathers, and men. It even takes its lessons from classic gentlemen such as Benjamin Franklin and Theodore Roosevelt. This book includes useful things to know and learn, such as how to perform a fireman's carry, start a fire without matches, predict the weather like a frontiersman, live a well-balanced life, and so much more! Be sure to check out The Art of Manliness website too!

6. A Tablet | Price Varies

If your guy loves techy gadgets, a tablet is the way to go! Easy to carry and super functional, this is something he'll use throughout the day!

7. Multi-Tool Keychain | $36.85

My grandpa's favorite Christmas gift was a multi-tool keychain. He uses it for everything! This gift is nice because your man can keep it with him at all times. This one includes 9 tools: a knife, wood/metal file, bottle opener, needlenose pliers, regular pliers, scissors, flat/Phillips screwdriver, medium screwdriver, and wire cutters.

8. A Huge Water Bottle | $32.95

I bought this for Caleb's birthday and he LOVES it. He drinks a ton of water and didn't like having to constantly fill up one of those small water bottles. This stainless steel bottle from Kleen Kanteen holds a whopping half gallon! With its extra wide mouth, your man won't have to worry about having to sip at his water. And if a huge bottle isn't your thing, Kleen Kanteen offers a variety of sizes and styles :)

9. Mophie Juice Pack | Price Varies depending on model of phone

Don't you hate it when your phone dies? Give your man the gift of power (battery power that is) with a battery pack for his phone. A Mophie Juice Pack can virtually double your battery life, giving you more hours to talk, text, listen to music, and surf the web.

What are you planning to give the men in your life this holiday?
